Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s tenure extended till 2026, Central Government issued order…

The central government on Monday extended the tenure of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri till July 14, 2026.

The Personnel Ministry gave this information in an order.

Vikram Misri, a 1989 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, took charge as the Foreign Secretary on July 15. The current tenure of Vikram Misri was ending on 30th November.

Misri is a 1989 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.

The order issued by the personnel ministry of the central government said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has extended Misri’s tenure as Foreign Secretary beyond the date of his superannuation on November 30 till July 14, 2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The increase has been approved as per the provisions of FR 56 (D).

Officials said the provisions allow extension of service of the Foreign Secretary even beyond the date of retirement in public interest.
