Cyber security company CloudSEEK said on Friday that cyber criminals are creating more than a thousand phishing domains every day. Deepfake videos of prominent personalities like Mukesh Ambani, Virat Kohli are being made to promote gaming apps.
CloudSEEK also announced that it has made its deep fake detection technology free to everyone, which will help identify deepfake videos.
Fake play store is also being created
Deepfake videos involve manipulating footage of famous news anchors to create fake videos of prominent celebrities, the report said. Not only are deepfake videos being used to lure people into downloading suspicious apps, but fake Play Stores are also being created.
Every day more than a thousand phishing domains or fake domains are being created. CloudSEEK has identified fraudulent campaigns targeting users in India, Pakistan, Nigeria, and elsewhere. Prominent personalities like Mukesh Ambani, Virat Kohli, Neeraj Chopra and international celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo are being seen promoting the app.
Center launches new system to identify and stop international spoof calls
The Center has launched a new system to identify and block incoming international fake calls before they reach Indian telecom customers.
This comes amid a series of incidents where users were “digitally arrested”, and threatened with mobile disconnection, with cyber criminals even impersonating government officials or law enforcement agencies, including False allegations related to drugs, narcotics and sex rackets were involved. Recently the head of Vardhaman Group was defrauded of Rs 7 crore.
