US Ambassador Eric Garcetti has presented his side in the case of alleged conspiracy to murder terrorist Gurupatwant Singh Pannu.
Garcetti said that whether any country is our friend or enemy, if it is involved in any criminal activities on our soil, we will not compromise on it.
However, America is satisfied with the action being taken by India in this matter. We hope that whoever is responsible is convicted for this as soon as possible.
Indian citizen Vikas Yadav has been convicted by the US on charges of alleged conspiracy to murder Pannu.
In his interview, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said that there is a lot at stake between the two countries regarding this matter.
We cannot tolerate any kind of criminal activity on American soil, whether it is committed by an enemy country or a friendly country.. We cannot tolerate this. However, Garcetti did not say anything regarding the extradition of Vikas Yadav, the alleged criminal of Pannu case.
Take action on real threats, example given by Tahawwur Rana
When asked about the threats made to India by terrorists posing as American citizens, Garcetti said that we take action on the real threats or those which we feel can pose a threat to any country. .
We have better relations with India in this matter. Take the example of Mumbai attack convict Tahawwur Rana. There was a successful extradition in that case between India and America.
This is a red line for us, such behavior cannot be tolerated – Garcetti
The American Ambassador said that I would like to say two things that such behavior of any country against any country is not acceptable to us. Especially for us as American citizens, this is a redline. No matter who does this or what he says.
If you conspire to murder someone on American soil or on the soil of any other country, then it will be considered a crime. As far as this matter is concerned, we want that action should be taken as soon as possible and not just an assurance that this will not happen in future.
America has arrested a person named Nikhil Gupta for alleged murder conspiracy against Gurupatwant Singh Pannu, while only last week it has included a person named Vikas Yadav in its most wanted list.
America alleges that both of them work for the Indian intelligence agency. Together they had conspired to murder American citizen terrorist Gurupatwant Singh Pannu.
The US alleges that Nikhil Gupta was in constant touch with a shooter, while Vikas Yadav was giving him instructions from India.
