Hyderabad. Ganesh Chaturthi event was held at Kirti Richmond Villa in Bandlaguda Jagir, Telangana, which concluded with the auction of Ganesh laddus before Ganesh idol immersion. This year, Ganesh laddus were auctioned for Rs 1.87 crore, breaking last year’s record of Rs 1.26 crore. A total of 100 members participated in the auction, divided into four groups of 25 members each. One group successfully purchased the laddus.
Last year, the group that won the laddus had announced that the money would be donated under a trust so that the underprivileged sections including poor students in hostels and other needy people of the society can be developed. Actually Ganeshotsav is called Vinayaka Chavithi in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Every year, after the completion of Ganeshotsav, an auction is organized. There is tough competition in the auction.
Devotees believe that winning a laddu brings divine blessings, prosperity and success. Laddus are considered a symbol of good luck and those who win this auction often get a bountiful harvest and economic growth throughout the year. This belief has transformed the auction from a small-scale event to a grand tradition, with participants from far and wide now coming to join it. Hyderabad police on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory in preparation for the Ganesh immersion procession. The advisory issued in view of smooth and convenient traffic will be effective from Tuesday morning to Wednesday afternoon. The police have appealed to citizens and devotees to follow the route map.
