A statement by Taiwan’s Labor Minister Su Mingchun has sparked controversy. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry had to apologize to India for its racist remarks against Indians.
In fact, during an interview, Mingchun had said that to increase the strength of his country, he would recruit laborers from the North-Eastern states in India because their appearance and eating habits are similar to those of Taiwan.
Apart from this, there is Christian population here. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry has also distanced itself from his statement. Taiwan has clarified that all workers will be treated equally.
Let us tell you that the first batch of Indian workers is going to reach Taiwan within the next one year. Taiwanese officials say that recruitment will also be done from other states of India.
People knowledgeable about the matter say that for the first time a country has said that recruitment will be done from a particular state of India.
This is a racial comment. No one can be discriminated against because of their eating habits, appearance or religion.
Many West Asian countries have been recruiting people from India for the last five decades. However, till date no country has stated that it is going to give priority to any particular state or religion.
Even in the Muslim countries of the Gulf, a large number of Indian workers go. These countries also never talked about recruitment on the basis of religion.
Let us tell you that only last month, an agreement has been signed between India and Taiwan, under which it has been said that Indian workers will be given work in different sectors in Taiwan. Let us tell you that China is upset after seeing the relations between Taiwan and India.
Recently, a media channel interviewed Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu. On this, China had said that India has given Taiwan a platform to spread false information.
Let us also tell you that in the case of Taiwan, India follows the One China Policy and hence does not have formal diplomatic relations with it.
