Instructions to social media platforms to remove threat information soon
New Delhi . The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Saturday issued new guidelines for social media platforms against bomb threats to planes. The government has also said that if social media platforms are reluctant to fulfill their responsibilities, legal action will be taken against them. According to the guidelines, social media platforms have been instructed to quickly remove information about fake bomb threats and immediately inform security agencies about it. The ministry said that in the last few days many airlines in India have received fake bomb threats. These threats are affecting airlines, passengers and security agencies, disrupting the normal operation of flights.
Social media platforms should take action
The IT Ministry has clarified that social media platforms will have to take appropriate action under the Information Technology Act and related rules. They must immediately remove any false information that affects public safety. If social media platforms do not comply with this responsibility, the government will be forced to take legal action against them. As per IT rules, if they fail to remove incorrect information, they can be punished under the IT Act.
Fake threats are a threat to the security of the state
Fake threats are not only affecting public order, but also pose a threat to the security of the state. A large number of citizens are affected by these and the economic security of the country is also destabilized. These fake threats, which are based on misinformation, are spreading rapidly due to forwarding/re-sharing on social media platforms.
