Hafiz Saeed is in Pakistan’s jail, sentenced to 78 years; UN’s latest update on India’s demand…

Mumbai terror attack mastermind and banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed is in Pakistan’s custody.

He is serving a 78-year prison sentence after being convicted on seven counts of terror financing. The United Nations has given this information in its updated report.

Let us tell you that in December last year, India had requested Pakistan to extradite UN banned terrorist Saeed. He is wanted by Indian investigating agencies in several terror cases.

Hafiz Saeed was designated as a global terrorist by the 1267 Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the United Nations Security Council in December 2008.

He is in the custody of the Government of Pakistan and is serving a 78-year prison sentence since February 12, 2020. He was convicted in seven terror financing cases, leading to a 78-year prison sentence.

The Security Council Committee recently amended its list of individuals and entities subject to asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo.

The committee also confirmed the death of Hafiz Abdul Salam Bhuttawi, a founding member of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Saeed’s deputy.

Let us tell you that Bhuttavi, who played an important role in training Lashkar attackers for the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, died in jail in May last year.

He was serving a sentence for his involvement in terrorist financing.
