Colombo. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Harini Amarasuriya as the Prime Minister of the country. Sri Lankan President Anura Dissanayake administered the oath of office to Harini Amarasuriya as the Prime Minister. President Anura has entrusted Prime Minister Amarasuriya with the responsibility of important ministries like justice, education, health and investment. Apart from this, Vijitha Heerth and Lakshman Nippunarachchi also took oath as cabinet ministers. The Sri Lankan cabinet has a total of 4 members including the President and the Prime Minister. This is the smallest cabinet in the history of Sri Lanka.
Harini is the third woman to hold the post of Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Before her, Sirimavo Bandaranaike (3 times) and Chandrika Kumaratunga (1 time) have been the women Prime Ministers of the country. Harini Amarasuriya became an MP for the first time in 2020.
