ECI i.e. Election Commission of India may soon announce the dates of Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Amidst all these election news, big claims are also being made on social media regarding Electronic Voting Machine or EVM. It is being said that the use of EVM is going to be stopped in the country? Know what the truth is.

Recently, some special channels have been mentioned on the video sharing platform YouTube by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Apart from these, questions are being raised regarding EVM in some videos. However, PIB has clarified the situation.

In the videos posted on these channels, it is being claimed, ‘EVMs will be closed across the country, Election Commission bowed to the movement.

‘In another video it is being said, ‘Supreme Court’s decision is coming, 2024 elections will be held through ballot paper only.’ PIB mentioned another video in which it is being said, ‘The treatment of EVM is finally done.’

What is the truth?
PIB has said on Tuesday that all these claims are fake. PIB informed through its official X handle that no decision has been taken by the Election Commission to ban EVMs.

The news related to Supreme Court and ballot paper has also been described as fake. PIB says that a fake video is being played, in which it is claimed that the Supreme Court has issued instructions to conduct elections through ballot paper.

It was further stated that the court has not issued any such directions. PIB has said that EVMs have not been banned by the Supreme Court.
