Tehran. Amid the fear of a war breaking out between Iran and Israel, experts have warned that the kind of policy Hezbollah is following can lead Lebanon to a situation like Gaza. Recent developments are taking this region towards a never-ending war. A report has quoted former intelligence officials as saying that Israel is preparing to attack Hezbollah in Lebanon, which it considers a puppet organization of Iran. If this happens, there can be massive devastation in Lebanon and a situation similar to the one that has developed in the Gaza Strip since October last year can arise. Fighting has been going on in Gaza for 10 months. A large number of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks and there still seems to be no end to this conflict.
The report says that the aggression against Israel by Iran-backed organizations, Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthis in Yemen, has created a dangerous situation. In recent times, a new threat of war is looming after the killing of Hamas’s big leader Ismail Haniyya and Hezbollah’s senior commander Shukar. Former Israeli intelligence officer and security analyst Avi Melamed said that for a long time West Asia has been witnessing war in some form or the other and it does not seem that this situation will change very soon. If Hamas weakens, then Hezbollah will enter the fight.
Analysts have warned that Lebanon may have to face a situation like Gaza. Security expert Professor Anthony Gleese of Buckingham University believes that Israel’s action in Lebanon can create a situation like Gaza there. Retired British Army Commander Colonel Richard Kemp says that Israel can be attacked by Iran and Hezbollah at any time. If Israel suffers major losses in these attacks, then Israel will take major action against Iran and Hezbollah. Professor Gleese says that Israel has wreaked havoc in Gaza in an attempt to defeat Hamas. If there is an attack from Hezbollah, then Lebanon can also have the same fate as the Palestinian region.
