During the 90-minute debate in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Kamala Harris appeared to be superior to Trump on every occasion. Trump appeared to be on the back foot with many of his own statements. Harris was successful in cornering Trump on topics like American foreign policy, economy, border security and abortion.

Three months ago, when 81-year-old Joe Biden was pitted against Donald Trump in the US presidential election, Americans and even Democrat lawmakers cornered Biden citing his age. 55 days ago, Trump and Biden stepped off the debate stage in Atlanta.
Then the world saw how Trump defeated Biden. Biden was on the backfoot throughout the debate. Citing a viral video, Trump accused Biden of sleeping during the debate. After facing criticism for several days, Biden himself had to withdraw his candidature.

During this, Trump made personal attacks on Kamala Harris several times. He used abusive language for her. Before the debate, Trump boasted that there is no competition between Kamala Harris and him. Trump even claimed that by making Kamala Harris the candidate, the Democrats have ensured an easy victory for him. However, during the debate on Wednesday, all of Trump’s claims proved to be baseless.

Trump (78) also tried to corner Harris, asking why she did not fulfill the promises she is making now in these three and a half years of her administration and under President Joe Biden? In his closing remarks at the debate, the former president said, “She started with the fact that she will do this, she will do that. She is going to do all these great things, but why has she not done it till now? She had three and a half years to do all this. She had three and a half years to solve the border dispute. She had three and a half years to create jobs and all the things we talked about. Why did she not do it then?”

“As I said, you’re going to hear a lot of lies, and that’s really not surprising,” Harris said during the debate.
He said that if Trump becomes president again, he will sign the National Abortion Ban Bill. He claimed, “There will be a national abortion monitoring system, which will monitor your pregnancy, your abortion.” He said, “I think the American people believe that some freedoms, especially the freedom to make decisions about their own body, should not be given by the government.”
Trump hit back, saying abortion policy should be decided by the states. He said, “Harris is lying again.”
I am not going to sign any such bill. The Democratic Party, the Republican Party and the lawmakers all want to bring it back to the states and the states are in favor of it.” There was also a tussle between the two regarding election rallies.
Discussion from Taliban to Afghanistan
The former President raised the issue of Afghanistan several times in his address and said that the way American troops were withdrawn from there was the “most shameful moment in American history”.
On this, Harris, referring to her talks with the Taliban, said that it should be remembered under what circumstances (the withdrawal of troops) took place. Trump claimed that Harris “hates Israel”, to which the Vice President retorted that Trump likes “dictators”.

Many American commentators said that Harris performed better during the debate. Fox News, which is often considered to be pro-Trump, also said, “She emerged as a clear winner in the Trump-Harris contest, but this does not mean that the election is over yet.”
During the debate, Harris was seen interrupting Trump several times. However, it could not be heard while Trump was speaking because her mic was off. Trump vowed that if he wins the general election on November 5, he will end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
