Regarding the explosions of pagers and electronic equipment in Lebanon, the American media has claimed that this is the work of fake companies created by the intelligence agency Mossad.
The Taiwanese company to which Hezbollah gave the job of making pagers, had given the contract of this work on its license to an Israeli company.
A report published in the New York Times quoted three intelligence officials as saying that the Hungarian company BAC Consulting KFT had taken this contract from the Taiwanese company. This Hungarian company has links with Israel.
According to the report, in order to hide the real identity of these Israeli intelligence officers who made the pagers in the name of BAC Consulting KFT, first two fake companies were created, after which they started working for KFT.
Since KFT had other common buyers for whom it manufactured pagers without explosives, security and intelligence were taken full care of.
The shipment of non-explosive pagers to Lebanon began in the summer of 2022. Production of such pagers was increased when orders for the purchase of pagers came in after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah directed at reducing the use of mobile phones for security reasons.
Taiwanese company denies involvement in blasts
The pagers which exploded were of the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo brand. Now that this incident has happened, there is panic in Taiwan as well.
Taiwan’s Defense Minister Wellington Koo said that security agencies are investigating the matter deeply and we will reach the root of the allegations being made at the international level as soon as possible.
Gold Apollo, the company that supplies pagers in Lebanon, is also on the back foot due to this incident. They said that the Taiwanese company has nothing to do with the manufacturing of the pagers that exploded, rather the pagers were manufactured by the Hungarian company BAC Consulting KFT under the license of Gold Apollo.
But Hungarian company BAC Consulting Kft has claimed that it had only provided consultancy services for the project and was not involved in any production activity of the pager.
People in Lebanon are terrified by explosions in communication equipment
At least 12 people were killed and more than 2,800 injured in a massive explosion of pagers in Lebanon on Tuesday.
According to several media reports the pager is used by members of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement as a secure impenetrable communications system that is least susceptible to hacking and wiretapping.
It is still unknown what caused the devices to explode simultaneously. Hezbollah and Lebanese authorities blamed Israel for the incident.
At least 20 people were killed and more than 450 injured on Wednesday in a second wave of massive explosions targeting communications equipment used by Hezbollah members.
Lebanon’s Communications Ministry said the ICOM-made IC-V82 radios that exploded were unlicensed. There were also reports of explosions in other devices used for communications, such as walkie-talkies.
