How is it a crime for children to attend PM’s rally in school dress? High Court questions the police…

There was controversy over children attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in school dress.

Now, after registering the FIR, the Madras High Court has questioned the police as to how the presence of children in the school uniform at the rally became a crime? The court has also sought answers from the police.

Here, the school administration has denied that the talk of taking children in uniform to see PM Modi is false.

Justice G Jayachandran was hearing the matter on Thursday. According to a Times of India report, he said, ‘When we were kids, we used to go to see celebrities and politicians during election campaigns….’

The court has extended the interim protection granted to the school against coercive action till further orders.

Also, the court has asked Coimbatore Police to reply by April 8.

Through this, clarification has been sought regarding registration of FIR under JJ Act against Sai Baba Vidyalayam Middle School. The school administration had filed a petition challenging the FIR.

The prosecution says that the school unnecessarily physically and mentally harassed 32 children by taking them to the road show.

On this, the judge said that how can an FIR be registered only on the basis of the complaint of the District Child Protection Officer, who himself came to know about the issue through media reports.

The school says that the complaint has been filed as an act of retaliation to harass the management. She said that all efforts were made to send the children home safely and instructions were also given to the parents.

The school said, ‘The allegations that the school forcibly took children to the election campaign are baseless and the management is being harassed by filing complaints with political vendetta.’
