10 years have passed since the launch of PMJDY i.e. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.
On this occasion, PM Modi congratulated the beneficiaries. He also gave details of the accounts opened and the amount deposited in 10 years.
He said that in a decade, more than 53 crore accounts have been opened under this scheme, in which more than 2 lakh crore rupees have been deposited. The special thing is that women are ahead of men in terms of accounts.

PM Modi has said that till now more than 53 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened, in which an amount of Rs 2.3 lakh crore has been deposited by the poor.
PM Modi launched this scheme on 28 August 2014. According to the Finance Ministry, PM Jan Dhan Yojana is the world’s largest financial inclusion program.

Just a day ago, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that a target has been set to open 3 crore Jan Dhan accounts in this financial year.
He said on Wednesday, ‘The success of this program can be judged from the fact that 53 crore people have been included in the formal banking system by opening Jan Dhan accounts.
A total of Rs 2.3 lakh crore has been deposited in these bank accounts and this has resulted in issuance of over 36 crore free RuPay cards, which also provide accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh.
It is worth noting that no fee or maintenance fee is charged for opening this account and there is no need to maintain any minimum balance in the account.
Mathematics of Jan Dhan accounts
The Finance Ministry has informed that the total number of accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana till August 14, 2024 is 53.13 crores.
Of these, 55.6 percent (29.56 crore) Jan Dhan account holders are women and 66.6 percent (35.37 crore) Jan Dhan accounts are in rural and urban areas.
The total amount deposited in the accounts opened under the scheme is Rs 2,31,236 crore. With a 3.6-fold increase in these accounts, the deposit amount has increased by about 15 times (August 2024/August 2015).
