The agreement regarding seat sharing between the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance in Maharashtra is in the final stages.
Sources say that the Uddhav Thackeray faction has had to make sacrifices in the seat sharing agreement reached between Congress, Uddhav Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.
According to the information received so far, if Congress will contest on 105 seats, Uddhav Sena may get 96 to 100 seats. NCP-Sharad Pawar may be given around 85 seats.
In this way it has become clear that Uddhav Sena will contest less seats than Congress. This entire agreement has become possible only due to the sacrifice of Uddhav Sena, which had been continuously demanding that it would field candidates on 125 seats.
Then what happened that Uddhav Sena not only did not get 125 seats but had to agree to less than Congress. The situation was opposite in the Lok Sabha, when Uddhav Sena had contested 21 seats and won 9 seats.
Whereas Congress had contested elections on 17 seats and won 13. It is believed that keeping this strike rate in mind, Congress persuaded Uddhav Sena to contest elections on fewer seats.
There was a long war of words between Congress state president Nana Patole and Uddhav Sena’s Sanjay Raut. Even Sanjay Raut said that he would not want to go to the meeting in which Nana Patole would be present.
Then Sharad Pawar intervened and talked to Uddhav Thackeray.
It is being said that their conversation of about two hours resolved the entire situation. Then Congress argued that it has a good support base in Vidarbha, but the position of Uddhav Sena is weak there.
In such a situation, his contesting from the seats there will be harmful. It will not be able to win in a direct contest with BJP. Therefore, Congress should be given a chance there.
For this, Congress also put forward a strike call for Lok Sabha elections. In the end, Uddhav Sena had to accept that Congress should contest elections on more seats.
Congress said that Uddhav Sena’s presence is weak in areas like Amravati, Nagpur, Ramtek and Pune. Therefore, we should get more chances on the seats here, which will increase the chances of victory.
At the same time, Uddhav Sena had also proposed equality in the end. It was said that Uddhav Sena and Congress should contest 100 seats each, while NCP-SP should be given 88 seats.
Congress was adamant on this also and in the end Congress is going to field candidates on more than 100 seats. Whereas Uddhav Sena will get 5 to 10 seats less than that.
