Donald Trump has won the US presidential election by defeating his rival Kamala Harris.
After Trump’s victory, it is considered certain that the cases against him will be put on hold for four years.
Trump is mainly facing prosecution in New York in cases like secret money, interference in the 2020 election and classified documents.
Before Republican candidate Trump was declared victorious, his rivals had tried to end his candidacy by proving him guilty in some case in the court.
But Trump’s legal team adopted the strategy of prolonging the cases and was successful in it. This resulted in Trump facing a criminal trial only in Manhattan.
secret document matters
A case has been registered against America’s newly elected President Trump for removing confidential government documents during his previous tenure and later refusing to return them when an attempt was made to take them back during the Biden government.
The case was dismissed in July by Trump’s appointee to the federal bench, Ellen Cannon.
According to the agency, these documents were seized when Trump’s Palm Beach residence was raided in August 2022. Trump also tried to hide these documents.
After Cannon’s decision, the case was taken to a higher court, where Trump’s team repeatedly delayed the proceedings until Trump was elected president.
According to the news agency, during Trump’s presidential election campaign, a roster was circulated that Canon could be appointed as the new Attorney General.
money fraud
Apart from this, Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records regarding a secret payment to porn star Stormy Daniels to keep her mouth shut, although Trump is currently appealing this case in the higher court.
False allegations in the 2020 presidential election
US President-elect Trump faces four charges in a Washington court, accusing him of spreading false claims of election fraud to try to block voting and certification after the 2020 election.
Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden in this election. Trump later pleaded not guilty and insisted the charges were a political ploy.
In Georgia too, there are some cases pending against Trump during the last elections, but Trump’s legal team here too has made arrangements to drag on these cases for a long time. Apart from these criminal cases, many civil cases are also registered against Trump.
Now that Trump has been elected President, he cannot be punished in any case, but his cases will continue.
During his previous tenure, Trump had tried to amend the Constitution and make such a rule by which the President could end the cases pending against him, but this could not happen due to pressure from Congress.
In 1997, while hearing a civil suit against then President Bill Clinton, the US Court unanimously decided that a sitting President cannot invoke immunity to avoid civil suits while in office.
