Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 19th East Asia Summit in Laos on Friday.

During this, he mentioned about the conflicts going on in different parts of the world and said that it is having the biggest negative impact on the countries of the Global South.

PM Modi said, ‘Everyone wants peace and stability to be restored as soon as possible, be it Eurasia or West Asia. I come from the land of Buddha and I have said again and again that this is not an age of war.

Solutions to problems cannot come from the battlefield. It is important to respect sovereignty, territorial integrity and international laws.

Keeping a humanitarian approach, priority will have to be given to dialogue and diplomacy. Fulfilling the responsibility of Vishwabudhu, India will continue to make every possible contribution in this direction.

At the summit, PM Modi said, ‘We support ASEAN’s view on the situation in Myanmar. We also support the 5-point consensus.

At the same time, we believe that it is important to maintain humanitarian assistance and appropriate steps should also be taken to restore democracy.

We believe that for this, Myanmar should be included, not isolated. He said that India will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as a neighboring country.

‘Security of South China Sea in the interest of Indo-Pacific’

Narendra Modi said, ‘India has always supported the unity and centrality of ASEAN. ASEAN is also at the center of India’s Indo-Pacific vision and Quad cooperation.

There are deep parallels between India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

He said a free, open, inclusive, prosperous and rules-based Indo-Pacific is vital for peace and progress of the entire region.

The peace, security and stability of the South China Sea is in the interest of the entire Indo-Pacific region.

‘Deep condolences to the people affected by Hurricane Yagi’

At the 19th East Asia Summit, PM Modi mentioned the devastation caused by Cyclone Yagi. He said, ‘I express my deepest condolences to the people affected by Typhoon Yagi. In this difficult time, we have provided humanitarian assistance through Operation Sadbhav.

Let us tell you that during this conference, Prime Minister Modi met New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. PM Modi also expressed his condolences to Secretary Blinken on the loss of lives due to Hurricane Milton.
