Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar seems deeply hurt by the incident of mockery by MPs from opposition parties led by Trinamool Congress.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also spoken to him on phone. The Vice President himself has given this information. He wrote on social media platform X, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji telephoned. He expressed deep sorrow over the incident of mimicry done by some honorable MPs.”
The Vice President further wrote, “The Prime Minister told me that he has been suffering such insults for the last twenty years. But such behavior with a constitutional post like the Vice President of India and that too in the sacred Parliament is unfortunate.”
Dhankhar said, “I told him, Prime Minister, the actions of some people will not stop me from performing my duty and maintaining the principles enshrined in our Constitution. I am wholeheartedly committed to those values. No amount of insult will force me to change my course.”
Let us tell you that there was a sharp reaction in the Upper House on the incident of an opposition MP allegedly making fun of Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar by imitating him in the Parliament.
The Chairman appeared hurt by the incident and expressed his pain in the House. At the same time, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi condemned the incident and asked the opposition to apologize.
Expressing pain over the incidents in the Parliament complex, Chairman Dhankhar said that he is being targeted because of his farmer and Jat background.
I am being insulted. Taking a dig at the Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP P. Chidambaram present in the House, he said, think! What must have been going through my heart, when one of your senior leaders was doing videography of making fun of the Vice President.
Whereas, I was being personally attacked. Dhankhar said that this is not just an insult to a farmer and a community. This is disrespect to the post of Chairman of Rajya Sabha. That too by a member of a political party which has ruled for so long.
Expressing pain over the alleged mockery incident, Dhankhar said that today we got a chance to see the lowest level.
He asked Congress MP Chidambaram present in the House that why does a senior member of Parliament videograph another member? Let me tell you that I have suffered a lot.
Describing such incidents as a serious issue, the Chairman further said that your (Congress) party had posted a video on Instagram, which was later removed. it’s embarrassing.
