President Draupadi Murmu says that yoga, spirituality and meditation have helped her a lot.
During discussion with Union Minister Smriti Irani, President Murmu recalled many sad aspects of her life and told that she came out of those situations with great difficulty.
President Murmu has lost her two sons and her husband. During the discussion he told that he had never dreamed of becoming the President.
On Tuesday, Murmu said that spirituality and meditation helped her come out of depression after the death of her two sons and her husband. She said, ‘I cry. I have lost a lot. I started doing yoga and meditation to feel good and alive. Someone advised me to do yoga. If your mind is empty, negativity will creep in’.
He said, ‘I personally feel that one should spend time working to stay away from negativity.’ The interview given to Union Minister Irani has been aired on World Radio Day i.e. 13 February.
One son of President Murmu died in the year 2009, the other son in the year 2013 and her husband in the year 2014.
What did you say when you became President?
She said, ‘I was a simple woman in my village and used to steal guavas and mangoes or take bath in the pond.
I never thought about becoming President or any other official. My grandmother made me realize the importance of education and my struggle along the way to achieve my goals.
Told what is necessary to live life
According to PTI, while addressing a gathering at Srimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, a spiritual center associated with Jainism in Gujarat’s Valsad district, Murmu said that today most of the people are engaged in a race to get material happiness and wealth which has no happy end. It is possible.
“They have forgotten what they really want in life,” he said. We are slowly forgetting our spiritual wealth. He said that we should remember that along with earning money, mental peace, equanimity, restraint and morality are also necessary.
