Vinesh Phogat, who missed out on a medal despite a stellar performance at the Paris Olympics due to being 100 grams overweight, has written a post on social media.
Vinesh has expressed her pain in this post. On one hand, she has expressed her disappointment about not being able to reach the podium.
At the same time, she has also expressed her love for the tricolor. Apart from this, she has also hinted at returning from retirement. Vinesh has also recalled the protest against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh last year.
During this, she also mentioned the photo lying on the ground near the tricolor near Jantar Mantar. She wrote that during the wrestlers’ protest, I was fighting for the safety of women in India and the value of the tricolor. Today, when I see that photo of 28 May 2023, it haunts me.
Vinesh Phogat reached the final of 50 kg category in Paris Olympics. Despite this, she was disqualified because her weight was found to be 100 grams more. On missing out by such a close margin, Phogat wrote that I wanted to wave the tricolor the highest in the Olympics.
I wanted to have a picture of the Tricolour with me which would show the importance and sanctity that our Tricolour deserves.
She has written that by doing this I would have been able to restore the dignity of the flag and wrestling. Phogat, who announced her retirement after being disqualified, has also hinted at returning from retirement at the end of the three-page long post.
She has written that sports has determined her life and there is still some work left to be done. Vinesh Phogat has written that the goals we had set, what we wanted to achieve, are still incomplete. This is something that will always make us feel incomplete. It can never be the same again.
Vinesh has written that maybe under some different circumstances I can play till 2032. The reason is that fighting ability and wrestling will always remain in me.
She further wrote that I cannot predict what my future will be like and what is still left in my journey.
But one thing is certain that I will continue to fight for whatever I feel is right. In this post, Vinesh has also mentioned her village.
When Vinesh was nine years old, she lost her father. Since then, Vinesh’s mother has supported her at every step. Apart from this, she has also mentioned her husband Somveer.
