The scope of investigation of the rape-murder case in Kolkata’s RG Kar College and Hospital seems to be increasing.
Actually, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday regarding this case and the matter of financial irregularities.
During this, the court said that other medical institutes of West Bengal can also come under the ambit of investigation, if it is found that some kind of gang was working in the state.
The bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachun, Justice JB Padriwala and Manoj Mishra, while hearing the case, said that they will not hesitate in expanding the investigation.
The SC bench said, ‘CBI should share its report with the state government so that the department can take action against the accused.’
These are the people who have been accused of trying to hide a case related to murder and financial irregularities. It is known that a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata was murdered after rape.
There were demonstrations across the country in protest against this incident and demands for justice. The Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the entire matter and started hearing.
Bengal government gave assurance to the court
While hearing the case, the SC also expressed its displeasure towards the state government. Especially considering that the process of installing CCTV, constructing toilets and making separate resting rooms in government medical colleges is slow.
Senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi appeared in the court on behalf of the Bengal government. He assured the bench that this task would be completed by October 15.
He also said that if the names of the accused are given by CBI, then action will also be taken against them.
During this, the investigation report of the Kolkata incident so far was presented in a closed envelope, regarding this the bench said that many important leads have been found during the investigation.
