Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security amid renewed tension in West Asia.

Sources gave this information. He said that tensions in West Asia and its impact on trade and supply of petroleum products were discussed in the meeting.

India expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in West Asia. After Thursday’s meeting, New Delhi said that the conflict should not take a broader form. India also appealed to resolve all issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

The committee comprising Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval discussed the Middle East in depth.

During this, there was discussion on the current hostility in the Middle East and the changing situation after Iran’s ballistic missile attack on Israel.

The Top Level Committee described the recent developments in West Asia as worrying. Also, the committee deliberated on various aspects arising out of the growing crisis.

Army keeps a close eye on the situation in West Asia

It is noteworthy that the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are also keeping a close eye on the situation in West Asia. This is an effort to ensure that there is no adverse impact on the security scenario in the Union Territory.

A senior army officer gave this information. “We have seen some minor impacts in terms of global conflicts and their potential impacts, including in West Asia,” said Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, General Officer Commanding, Srinagar-based Chinar Corps.

There have been some protests in the valley also. At present we have not seen any such indication on the basis of which it can be said that the situation is worrying. However, these conflicts are becoming more intense as time passes.

Tension between Israel, Lebanon and Iran, attacks continue

In fact, tension has increased significantly after Iran fired about 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. The Israeli military said on Thursday it had struck nearly 200 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, including weapons storage facilities and observation posts.

It said 15 Hezbollah fighters were killed in the attacks. Hezbollah said its fighters detonated a roadside bomb as Israeli forces entered the Lebanese border village of Maroun al-Ras, killing and wounding several soldiers.

The claims of both parties could not be independently verified. Meanwhile, the Israeli military warned people in towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate.
