Canada’s spy agency has given a big warning to India.
This agency says that India is using cyber technology to track Khalistanis abroad.
The warning came a day after allegations that a top Indian official was responsible for violence in Vancouver, including the killing of a Sikh.
Canada’s Communications Security Establishment (CSE) has said in a report that India is using cyber capabilities to trace and monitor Khalistanis living abroad.
Apart from this, there has also been talk of cyber attack on Canadian government networks.
CSE Chief Caroline Xavier said during a news conference that it is clear that we are seeing India as an emerging cyber threat.
In the report, his agency attributed this activity to the rift in bilateral relations between Canada and India.
The report said a pro-India hacktivist group carried out the DDoS attacks following Canada’s allegations.
Through this, online traffic was increased significantly, making it difficult for users to use it. In this, many Canadian websites including the army’s public website were targeted.
On Tuesday, officials revealed that Ottawa had discovered a major operation. Under this, Modi government is targeting Canadian Khalistanis.
While giving a statement before the Public Safety and National Security Committee of the House of Commons, Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison confirmed a news of Washington Post.
According to this news, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has been said to be involved in a conspiracy to intimidate Canadian Sikhs and even to murder them. The Post quoted an unnamed senior Canadian official as saying that the Shah authorized a campaign of intelligence gathering and attacks, including the assassination of Nijjar in 2023.
Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister Morrison said that information was taken from him. He told the committee that the journalist called me and asked me if this was that person.
I confirmed this. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the National Police have said there are clear indications of Indian involvement in the murder. Besides, a widespread campaign of threats, violence and other threats is also going on against Khalistani activists.
India has rejected these allegations. Delhi and Ottawa expelled each other’s ambassador and other senior diplomats earlier this month. Four Indian nationals have been arrested in connection with the murder.
It is noteworthy that Canada is the largest home for the Sikh community outside India. A large number of Khalistanis also live here who are demanding an independent Sikh state.
Canada has already accused India of the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was murdered in Vancouver in the year 2023. He was a big name in the Khalistani movement.
