Indian Navy braves will wear kurta-pajama, women will be able to wear churidar…

Navy personnel, who protect India from the sea, will now be seen wearing kurta-pajama in mess and sailor institutions.

It is reported that orders in this regard have been issued by the Indian Navy to all commands and institutions.

However, it is clear that the new livery will not be applicable to submarines and warships.

This decision has been taken on the basis of the government’s order to discard ‘colonial period items’.

According to reports, the new order states that officers and sailors be allowed to wear sleeveless jackets and kurta-pajama with formal shoes or sandals in officers’ mess and sailor institutions. However, some strict rules have also been prepared regarding these.

This includes everything from color to size of the kurta. According to the report, the kurta should be of ‘solid tone’, with knee length.

Also, there should be button cufflinks for the sleeves. The design of pajama should be on the lines of trousers. It should have elastic waistband and pockets on the waist.

Such orders have been issued for women also. Women officers wishing to wear kurta-churidar or kurta palazzo will also be able to use them.

Names will also be ‘Indianized’
The special thing is that till now male personnel in the Army, Navy and Air Force were prohibited from wearing kurta-pajama. According to the report, the Navy is also preparing to give Indian names to the ranks of sailors.

However, nothing has been said officially regarding this yet. The practice of officers keeping batons has also stopped.
