Kuwait City. Passengers have faced a lot of problems due to the emergency landing of Gulf Air aircraft. Around 60 Indian passengers on board a passenger flight from Mumbai to Manchester were stranded hungry and thirsty for nearly 24 hours at Kuwait International Airport on Sunday.
The passengers of the plane allege that even after a long wait, they were not provided food, water, accommodation or even basic facilities. Gulf Air flight GF 005 was diverted due to a technical glitch. According to a report, the plane took off again after 24 hours. During this time, some of the stranded passengers said that they were unable to leave the airport. This was because he did not have a transit visa. While UK and US passport holders were allowed to exit due to the availability of transit visas. The situation became worse when passengers started complaining about it on social media. After this the Indian Embassy in Kuwait had to intervene.
According to the report, after raising the issue on social media, senior officials of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait contacted the Indian passengers stranded at the airport. Only after this did an airport official agree to take senior citizens and passengers traveling with infants to a facility inside the airport. However, no clear information has been provided in this regard. During this period, Indian Embassy officials negotiated and maintained contact with the airline to arrange an alternative flight. A post by the Indian Embassy said that the Gulf Air flight to Manchester finally departed at 4:34 am carrying the stranded Indian passengers and others. The embassy team remained present there till the flight departed.
