New Delhi . India has sent 32 tonnes of relief material to Myanmar by a military transport aircraft. This relief material was sent under Operation Sadbhav, launched two days ago to assist the storm-affected South-East Asian countries. Various parts of Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam are in the grip of severe floods due to storm Yagi. India has already sent relief material to Vietnam and Laos.
India sent 10 tonnes of aid including rations, clothes and medicines to Myanmar through INS Satpura. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Operation Sadbhav is ongoing, India has sent the second consignment of aid to Myanmar. He said the Air Force aircraft is carrying 32 tonnes of relief material including hygiene kits and medicines for the people of Myanmar. Jaiswal said the Navy is carrying an additional 10 tonnes of ration for Myanmar. Operation Sadbhav is part of India’s broader effort to contribute to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) in the ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) region. Besides, India today sent 1000 metric tonnes of rice to Namibia to help deal with the recent drought.
