Tel Aviv. Amidst the deepening crisis in the Middle East, the Israeli army IDF carried out rapid attacks on several Hezbollah bases. The IDF says that they destroyed several Hezbollah bases in southern Lebanon by carrying out rapid attacks overnight. Israel’s attack on Hezbollah bases has taken place amid threats from Iran and Lebanon. In fact, tensions are at their peak in the Middle East after the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyya in Iran. Iran had announced to take revenge for Haniyya’s death from Israel.
Angered by the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh on 31 July in the capital Tehran, Iran had threatened to teach Israel a lesson and now it is believed that Iran can open a war front at any time. In view of these threats from Iran and Hezbollah, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had also said that these countries can attack Israel at any time. But ignoring the threats of Iran and Lebanon, Israel has destroyed many hideouts of Hezbollah.
In view of these threats, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had said that Iran and its henchmen want to trap us in the clutches of terrorism. We are determined to stand against them on every front and in every region, whether near or far. In fact, tensions have increased after the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran’s capital Tehran last week. A day before this incident, Hezbollah’s top military commander Fouad Shukr was assassinated in Lebanon’s capital Beirut. Haniyeh was the chief of Hamas in Gaza and he had gone to Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new President. Meanwhile, Hezbollah had also started targeting Israel. Hezbollah fired about 50 rockets on Israel last Saturday. However, Israel’s Iron Dome foiled this attack. The possibility of a large-scale war in the Middle East has increased after Iran and Hezbollah announced revenge. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden held an emergency meeting to discuss the current situation. The Pentagon has announced the deployment of additional military forces in the region to prevent further escalation.
