Tehran. Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad has performed a surprising feat. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has revealed that Mossad has infiltrated the top levels of Iran’s intelligence agency. According to a report, he said that a group of spies in Iran who were working for Israel had been recruited by Mossad. These Iranian spies were now working as double agents for Mossad.
In media reports, Ahmadinejad made a claim that Mossad had installed one of its agents as the head of an Iranian intelligence agency, which was passing all the information to Israel. He said that this operation of Mossad was aimed at stealing information about Iran’s nuclear program. He revealed that the head of the counter-Israel unit in the Iranian intelligence ministry was also an Israeli agent. He said the Mossad infiltrated Iranian intelligence services as part of a complex operation that included stealing vital nuclear documents.
According to the report, Ahmadinejad told that about two dozen Iranians were working as spies for Mossad in Iran’s intelligence agency. This is not the first time that Israel’s Mossad has created its spies inside Iran. In 2018, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel had obtained a trove of files related to Iran’s nuclear weapons program. The operation was carried out at midnight in Tehran, where Mossad agents stole more than 100,000 documents detailing Iran’s nuclear weapons development.
In a six-hour operation, more than two dozen agents cut into the safes in the warehouse to access the documents. Netanyahu later presented these documents in Tel Aviv, prompting US President Donald Trump to pull out of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran. Thus, Mossad’s successful operations have created security challenges for Iran and increased tensions in international relations.
