According to media reports, a series of meetings are going on between the Pakistani Embassy in Dhaka and the interim government of Bangladesh. According to media reports, Pakistan has started increasing its activity in Bangladesh. For the past few weeks, the Pakistan Embassy has been holding meetings with members of the interim government. There are reports that during this time, talks have taken place between the officials of the High Commission and the members of the new government on topics ranging from flood relief to student exchange programs. The Pakistan High Commission has also shared information related to this on social media.
The Pakistan High Commission wrote on Twitter – It was nice to meet Mohammad Nahid Islam and Asif Mohammad Shojib, Advisors to the Interim Government of Bangladesh. Issues of common interest including cooperation in the field of media, sports, youth and culture and IT were discussed. Some pictures of the meeting have also been shared.
According to media reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had spoken to the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus. It is said that the two Prime Ministers had spoken on very few occasions during Hasina’s tenure as Prime Minister. Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary had also met Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Advisor. After the fall of Hasina’s government, the Pakistan High Commission met BNP leaders.
