Afghanistan has been going through a period of instability for the past several decades.
Sometimes terrorism is at its peak and sometimes American forces carry out operations. Currently, the Taliban has taken control of Afghanistan and due to this, people are migrating on a large scale.
Millions of Afghans have migrated to countries around the world including Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Pakistan in the past years.
These Afghans have only one aim, that they can live a peaceful life and get two meals a day with convenience. Due to this, migration is happening at a rapid pace.
This number is so high that even Islamic countries like Iran are worried. The situation is such that Iran has started building walls on its border with Afghanistan.
Iran has recently built a 10 kilometer long wall on its eastern border with Afghanistan. This wall has been built in an area from where a large number of Afghans were entering Iran.
Iran’s ISNA news agency reported, “About 10 kilometers long wall has been built on the border. There are plans to build another 50 kilometers long wall.” This information was given by Iranian Army General Nazar Nemati.
Iran shares a border of about 900 kilometers with Afghanistan. Due to this, a large number of Afghans enter Iran. It is easy to enter Iran and people do not even think of the need for a visa for this.
Iran says that the number of Afghans in its border areas is increasing rapidly compared to the indigenous people. The demography of the area has changed in the last 40 years, which is a matter of concern.
Especially in 2021, after the withdrawal of American troops and the control of the Taliban, the rate of migration of these people has increased.
Türkiye has also built a wall to stop Afghans
Tehran has not given any information about how many Afghans have entered its country so far. But Iranian MP Abul Fazal Torabi had said recently that this figure could be close to 60 to 70 lakhs.
Regarding this, General Nemati says that we want strong security at the entry and exit points of our borders. By doing this, infiltration can be stopped, which is constantly increasing.
Earlier, Turkey had also built a wall on its border with Iran in 2021. Its purpose was also to stop people coming from Afghanistan.
