In a West African country, a terrorist organization created havoc throughout the day and killed more than 100 people.
Many corpses are still rotting in the bushes. We are talking about Nigeria.
Here terrorists of the Islamic jihadist organization Boko Haram attacked a village in north-eastern Nigeria and killed many people. During the attack, members of the group set shops and houses on fire. This attack took place on Sunday afternoon.
Local official Bulama Jalaluddin said the attack killed more than 100 people. Boko Haram is also known as the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
At least 100 villagers were killed as militants opened fire on markets, worshippers and people’s homes, local residents claimed on Wednesday.
Yobe police spokesman Dungus Abdulkareem said more than 50 militants on motorcycles entered the Tarmuwa council area of Yobe state on Sunday evening and opened fire before setting buildings on fire. Yobe Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana put the death toll in Sunday’s attack at 34.
Community leader Jana Omar said the 34 people the deputy governor mentioned as killed in the attack were from the same village. He said so far 102 villagers have been confirmed dead in the attack.
He said most of the people were either buried before the authorities arrived or their bodies were taken to other places for burial.
“We are still searching for people because many are still missing,” Omar said. Sunday’s attack was one of the deadliest in Yobe last year.
Local media reported that militants claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for villagers informing security forces about their activities.
