The Israeli army claimed to have killed a Hezbollah drone commander in an airstrike on an apartment in the suburbs of Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Thursday (September 26).
Jabullah did not immediately comment on Israel’s claim whether commander Mohammed Hussein Suroor had been killed.
However, the Israeli Defense Forces have said that the IDF, based on intelligence, has attacked and killed Hezbollah terrorist Muhammad Hussein Sarur in Beirut. After this attack, Hezbollah also fired several rockets at Israel.
Who was Muhammad Hussain Saroor
Israel has said that these attacks were carried out on a multi-storey building in Dahiyah, Beirut, in which Hezbollah’s drone commander was hiding.
The IDF alleged that Sarur was a longtime member of Hezbollah, which had carried out several terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers using UAVs and explosive devices.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said that PM Benjamin Netanyahu approved the assassination operation during his flight to New York for the UN General Assembly.
Saroor had joined Hezbollah organization in the 80s. Since then, he has served in a variety of positions within the organization, including a stint as commander of a surface-to-air missile unit and Radwan Force.
He oversaw the air affairs of the Houthi rebels in Yemen as a Hezbollah representative. He had directed several air terror attacks including drone, cruise missile and UAV attacks.
On the other hand, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said that at least two people were killed and 15 injured in an attack by Israeli fighter planes on a building in Dahiyah, a southern suburb of Beirut, on Thursday afternoon.
The injured also include a woman, whose condition is critical. According to CNN, this area is a densely populated area with a strong presence of Hezbollah.
According to Al Jazeera, Dahiyah is a suburb of Beirut, where about 700,000 people live. This is not the first time this area has been targeted by Israel.
This is the fourth attack in Dahiyah in less than a week. Israel claims that a large number of Hezbollah fighters are hiding here. Two high-ranking Hezbollah commanders have been killed by the IDF in the strikes so far.
