Meanwhile, Hezbollah has demanded a ceasefire amid the Israeli attack in Lebanon. This is the first time that Hezbollah has publicly supported the ceasefire and has not set a condition to stop the war in Gaza. Hezbollah, supporting Hamas, launched air strikes on Israel on October 8 last year. Hezbollah’s deputy chief Naeem Qasim gave a speech on the completion of one year of this incident. Qassim said Hezbollah supports efforts by Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri for a ceasefire. Once there is ceasefire then other things will be discussed. Hezbollah has previously said that it will stop attacks on Israel only when there is a ceasefire in Gaza.
The death toll in the Israeli attack in Gaza since October 7 last year has crossed 42 thousand. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the death toll has reached 41,010, while 97,720 people have been injured so far. US Vice President Kamala Harris has said that some progress has been made regarding the ceasefire in Gaza. However, unless an agreement is reached between Israel and Hamas, it means nothing. Kamala Harris said that there is a dire need for ceasefire in Gaza and release of Israeli hostages.
The World Health Organization said that after the completion of one year of the Israel-Hamas war, 6 percent of the people living in Gaza have been killed or injured in Israeli attacks. WHO said that at least 10 thousand people are still trapped under the debris.
On the other hand, 39 MPs in Iran have written a letter to the country’s Supreme National Security Council demanding the development of nuclear weapons. According to Al Jazeera’s report, it says that there is a need for change in Iran’s defense principles. Akhlaghi, one of the MPs who wrote the letter, said that today not a single international organization, European country or America in the world has the power to stop Israel. Whatever crime they want to commit, they are committing it. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a religious edict two decades ago stating that possessing nuclear weapons is against Islam. However, since then there have been many demands for making nuclear weapons in Iran.
