Jerusalem/Beirut. After the air strikes in Lebanon, Israel has now started preparing for ground war. Israel’s military chief Herzei Halevi said the purpose of their airstrikes in Lebanon was to destroy Hezbollah’s infrastructure and find a way for ground infiltration.
Halevi said that Israeli forces would enter Hezbollah’s territory and destroy their military posts. Then they will know what it means to face the Israeli army. He said that due to Hezbollah attacks, thousands of people living in northern areas of Israel had left their homes and moved to the southern areas. Now they will be able to return to their homes. Meanwhile, America and France on Wednesday demanded a 21-day ceasefire to stop the Israel-Lebanon war for some time. Many European countries including Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar supported the demand for ceasefire. In the meeting, France said that it is necessary to stop the war taking place in Lebanon, otherwise it may further increase the war in the Middle East. This can be stopped through diplomacy.
Ceasefire necessary for people’s safety
Regarding the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, President Biden said that its time has come. This is necessary for people to return home safely. He sought the support of Israel and Lebanon government for ceasefire. However, till now Hezbollah, Lebanon or Israel have not responded to the ceasefire. American officials hope that if the war between Hezbollah and Israel stops, it will also affect the ongoing war in Gaza. Fighting has been going on in Gaza for almost a year. There is a lot of pressure on Biden to stop the war in the Middle East. Now he has been in the presidency for only 116 days. Biden has been trying to stop the war through talks for a long time, but has been unsuccessful so far. If his efforts are successful, it will improve his image.
