US President Joe Biden has achieved great success in the last days of his tenure.
He has stopped the war between Hezbollah and Israel, the militant organization operating in Lebanon for the last 10 months.
An agreement has been reached between the two sides regarding ceasefire, which is in effect from this morning. America and France were involved in this deal.
Lebanese government ministers were involved in the meeting regarding the ceasefire, but there was no representative of Hezbollah.
Israel has made one thing clear regarding the ceasefire that if Hezbollah breaks the agreement then it will enter and attack and no concessions will be made.
Benjamin Netanyahu government says that we have accepted this agreement so that the focus can be on Iran and Gaza.
After Israel’s security cabinet approved the deal by a 10-1 vote, US President Biden said he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanon’s acting Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
Biden said, “This agreement was created to temporarily end the war. “Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations will not be allowed to interfere in Israel’s security.”
What are the conditions?
Regarding the terms of the ceasefire, Biden said that as soon as the Lebanese army takes back control of the area near the Israeli border, Israel will gradually withdraw its forces in 60 days.
It will be ensured that Hezbollah cannot re-establish its base there. “Citizens from both sides will soon be able to return to their homes safely,” he said.
After signing the agreement, Netanyahu has said that he is ready to implement the ceasefire agreement but if Hezbollah violates it, he will respond strongly.
Netanyahu told the strategy
It is noteworthy that Netanyahu is facing opposition for this agreement from some insiders of his government.
Netanyahu said the ceasefire would allow Israel to focus on Iran and Hamas, replenish arms shipments and rest the army.
“We will enforce the agreement and respond strongly to any violations,” Netanyahu said.
We will continue to work together until victory.” Netanyahu said Hezbollah is now weaker than it was at the beginning of the conflict.
“We have pushed it back decades and destroyed terrorist bases that have been operating for years near our border,” he said.
