Israel, which is fighting a war with both Hamas and Hezbollah in Gaza and Lebanon, has now faced a major attack from a third country.
On Friday morning, Houthi rebels from Yemen fired a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv. However, Israel destroyed the missile in the air.
The attack caused sirens to sound early in the morning in Tel Aviv and central Israel. It is believed that this attack was carried out in retaliation for Israel’s latest attack in Lebanon on Thursday.
Hezbollah’s drone chief commander Mohammad Saroor was killed in that attack. Saroor has trained Houthi rebels.
The Israeli military said in a latest statement on Friday that its air defense system Iron Dome has destroyed a surface-to-surface ballistic missile fired from Yemen.
The attack caused sirens to sound in Tel Aviv and central Israel on Friday morning.
The Israel Defense Forces said the missile was shot down by the long-range Arrow air defense system “outside the country’s borders.”
He said that after the missile was destroyed, due to its debris falling in Israeli areas, alerts were issued to warn the affected areas.
The IDF also said that there were no new instructions from the Home Front Command following the attack. Normal activities will continue inside the country, especially in Tel Aviv and central Israel.
