Dubai. Israel, which is fighting a war with Hamas, has now done such a thing that has infuriated Saudi Arabia. Israeli ministers along with hundreds of Israelis entered the mosque premises in Masjid Al-Aqsa, the center of the dispute between Palestine and Israel. Saudi Arabia is furious with Israel over this and America has also called it a wrong move by Israel and said that it is unacceptable.
Jews were observing a day of mourning and Israel’s far-right leader and Minister of National Security Affairs Ittemar Ben Givir entered the mosque complex to observe the day of mourning. The day of mourning is observed to commemorate the destruction of the ancient Jewish temple by the Romans in 70 BC. Saudi Arabia has called the Israeli minister’s entry into the Al-Aqsa Mosque an attack and has strongly condemned it. Saudi Arabia has said that the status quo of this historic mosque in Jerusalem should be respected.
The Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that it strongly condemns the open and continuous attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli occupation authorities and those visiting it. The statement emphasized respect for religious sanctity and warned that violating international law and the historical status quo of Jerusalem and provoking millions of Muslims around the world could have serious consequences. The Saudi Foreign Ministry called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility to stop these continuous violations by Israel, otherwise the consequences will be very dire.
The Al Aqsa Mosque, known to Muslims as Al-Haram Al Sharif, is one of the third holiest sites in Islam. The mosque complex also includes the Dome of the Rock. The Israeli mosque complex is called the Temple Mount and this site is the holiest place for Jews. Jews and other non-Muslims are allowed to enter the mosque complex but cannot go there and pray or display any religious symbols, but in recent years far-right nationalist leaders like Ben Gvir have violated these restrictions. Due to these violations, violent reactions from Palestinians have been seen. Jordan is responsible for the security of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Jordan has also strongly objected to Ben Gvir’s entry into the mosque complex. Jordan’s Foreign Ministry said that the continued violation of the historical and legal status quo of Jerusalem requires a clear and firm international position that condemns these violations.
Israel’s friend America has also called this Israeli action wrong and said that it is unacceptable. The US State Department spokesperson said that America stands firmly to protect the historical status quo regarding the holy sites of Jerusalem. Any such unilateral action that endangers the status quo will not be accepted. We are working to finalize the ceasefire agreement, in such a situation this step can also hinder the agreement.
