New Delhi . Israel is continuously bombing and carrying out air strikes in Gaza. Now there are reports of more than 100 Palestinian civilians being killed in a fresh airstrike. More than 100 people have been killed and dozens injured in an Israeli attack targeting a school housing displaced people in eastern Gaza.
According to the Hamas-run Gaza government’s media office, the attack occurred while people were praying. “The Israeli attacks targeted displaced people while they were performing Fajr (dawn) prayers, causing a rapid increase in the number of casualties,” the office said in a statement.
Four schools were attacked in Gaza last week. On August 4, two schools serving as shelters for displaced people in Gaza City were attacked by Israel, killing 30 people and injuring several others. Earlier, 17 people were killed in an Israeli attack on the Hamama School in Gaza City. On August 1, 15 people were killed in an Israeli attack on the Dalal al-Mughrabi School. Israel claims that there are terrorists inside the complex that serves as a Hamas command control center. On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel by making armed infiltration from the Gaza Strip into the Gaza area of southern Israel. This was seen as the biggest clash in decades on the part of Palestine. During this, about 1,200 people were killed and many were taken prisoner. Israel responded to this on a war footing and the conflict continues even at present. Since then, Israel has been continuously attacking buildings including schools in Gaza. More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the 10-month-long war. Several rounds of ceasefire talks have been held in the war-ravaged coastal Palestinian territory, but no breakthrough has been achieved so far.
