New Delhi. India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The Foreign Minister has gone to Riyadh to attend the first India-Gulf Cooperation Council Foreign Ministers’ meeting. Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Protocol Affairs Abdul Majeed Al Smari welcomed Jaishankar. This visit of Jaishankar is two days. Jaishankar gave this information on Xpost.
Let us tell you that the sixth meeting of the Joint Committee (JCC) on Defense Cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia was held on September 4. Both the countries discussed new opportunities to further strengthen the long-standing multidimensional defense cooperation. Detailed discussions were held to increase the scope of cooperation in areas like military, training, defense industry, research and development etc. India and Saudi Arabia have friendly and cordial relations based on centuries-old economic and socio-cultural relations.
The Joint Defence Cooperation Committee is an institutional mechanism under the MoU to promote the objectives of defence cooperation. The Indian delegation was led by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad. Officials from the Ministry of Defence were also present during the meeting. The meeting was co-chaired by Major General Salman bin Awadh Al-Harbi of the Saudi Arabian delegation.
