Jaishankar said on India-China relations, 75 percent of the problems have been resolved, increasing militarization on the border is a big issue

Geneva. On the border dispute in eastern Ladakh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that about 75 percent of the problems with China have been resolved, but the bigger issue is the increasing militarization on the border. In an interactive session at a think-tank in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland, Jaishankar said that the clashes in the Galwan Valley in June 2020 have affected India-China relations, stressing that after the violence on the border, it cannot be said that the rest of the relationship is untouched by it.
The Foreign Minister said that talks are going on between the two sides to find a solution to the problem. At the Geneva Center for Security Policy, he said, “Now talks are going on, we have made some progress. I can roughly say that about 75 percent of the problems have been resolved.” In response to a question, Jaishankar said, “We still have some work to do. But a big issue is that both of us have brought our armies closer to each other and in this sense militarization is taking place on the border.”
During this, the Foreign Minister indicated that if the dispute is resolved, the relationship can improve. He said, we hope that if a solution is found, peace and harmony returns, then we can consider other possibilities. Let us tell you that there is a deadlock between Indian and Chinese troops at some confrontation points in eastern Ladakh, while both sides have completed the process of withdrawal from many areas after extensive diplomatic and military talks. At the same time, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that we hope that the Quad summit will be held in the US in the coming days and with the passage of time, there is growing confidence in most parts of the Indo-Pacific region that it (Quad) is a net asset for the region. At the same time, when he was asked why BRICS and whether it would expand, he said, there was another club called G7 and you will not let anyone else enter this club. So we created our own club, as soon as it started, it gained its existence over time. Others also saw the preciousness in it.
