In Pakistan, which has become synonymous with terrorism, not only are the people worried about their safety, now even the lives of the judges there are in danger.

A media report on Tuesday said that eight judges of the Islamabad High Court, including Chief Justice Aamir Farooq, had received threatening letters.

These letters also contained some suspicious material. Let us also tell you that before this there have also been allegations of interference by Pakistan’s powerful intelligence agencies in judicial matters.

After this incident, concerns regarding the safety of judges have increased.

Earlier, a letter was written by six judges of Islamabad High Court to Supreme Court Chief Justice Qazi Fais Isa, in which they complained about interference in judicial matters by the country’s intelligence agencies.

Confirming receipt of the letter, Farooq said during the hearing of a case that the day’s hearing was delayed due to the incident.

Express Tribune newspaper quoted judicial sources as saying that when the staff of the two judges opened the letters, they found powder inside and later experienced burning sensation in their eyes.

As a precautionary measure, using sanitizer and washing hands provided relief.

A team of experts from Islamabad Police is investigating the suspicious powder. According to media reports, these letters were allegedly written by a woman.

Court officials called the police to resolve the matter immediately. Also, the letters have been handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Department for further investigation.

Let us tell you that this incident has happened just a day after Chief Justice Isa announced to take suo motu action on the letter of IHC judges regarding the interference of intelligence agencies.
