The troubles of Karnataka High Court Justice V Sreeshanand, who addressed a colony in Bengaluru as ‘Pakistan’ during the hearing of a case, are increasing.
It is reported that his transfer has also been considered by the Supreme Court collegium headed by the Chief Justice. Consideration is going on to send him to some other High Court outside the Karnataka High Court.
This view is being expressed by the bench of the top 5 judges of the Supreme Court, which took suo motu cognizance of his comment and heard it and after apologizing, the case was closed.
All 5 judges including the Chief Justice are also part of the collegium. Apart from Chief Justice Chandrachud, these judges include Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hrishikesh Roy.
The bench of these judges considered the matter on September 20 and then finally closed the matter on September 25.
Now there is news that the transfer of Justice V. Sreeshanand is also being considered in the collegium. The report dated September 23 by the Registrar General of the Karnataka High Court has mentioned several unreasonable comments by Justice Sreeshananda.
Now the collegium of 5 judges is considering why he should not be transferred.
The collegium is strict regarding Justice Shrishanand because he had made many controversial comments earlier also. Sreeshanand had made a gender discriminatory comment on June 6.
Apart from this, on August 28, he had described an area of Bengaluru as Pakistan. The Supreme Court took cognizance of this and expressed strong objection and called for action.
Then on September 21, during an open court hearing, Justice Shrishanand apologized unconditionally and withdrew his remarks.
Regarding his comment, DY Chandrachud had said that calling any part of India as Pakistan is also against the sovereignty and integrity of India.
He said that no one should make such comments. Then if a Justice makes such statements then what image will be created about the courts of the country.
