Earlier, India on Wednesday strongly condemned a Canadian media report claiming Prime Minister Narendra Modi had information about an alleged plot to assassinate Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, calling it a defamatory campaign.
Referring to this news quoting an unnamed official, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said such ‘ridiculous statements’ should be rejected in the manner they deserve.

Nijjar was shot dead last year. India has rejected all the allegations made by Canada in this matter.
