Karnataka High Court rejects PIL filed against Rahul Gandhi

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Monday rejected the PIL filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The petition alleged that Rahul Gandhi had made objectionable remarks during a public speech. In his speech, Rahul Gandhi had accused former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna of gang rape. Rahul Gandhi had made this allegation against Revanna while addressing a political meeting. This petition was filed against Rahul Gandhi on behalf of All India Dalit Action Committee.

A bench of Chief Justice N.V. Anjaria and Justice K. Arvind said that the PIL was a waste of judicial time and also imposed cost on the petitioner. The petitioner’s counsel today argued that Rahul Gandhi has hurt the dignity of Indian women, especially Hassan women, by his irresponsible statements. He urged the court to at least issue a notice so that Gandhi could be directed to reply.

The petitioner’s lawyer argued that Rahul Gandhi is a serial criminal. Earlier he had said that all people with Modi surname are thieves. Questions are being raised on his (Gandhi’s) citizenship and the Delhi High Court is considering the matter. The lawyer further said that this is a serious matter. I won’t take it back. The dignity of all Indian women is at stake due to fabricated statements. I pray that at least notices are issued. Let them come and explain.

It is noteworthy that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, while addressing an election rally, had said that Janata Dal (Secular) leader Prajwal Revanna raped 400 women and filmed the act. He had further said that this was not a sex scandal, but gang rape.
