Kashmir issue is the reason for India-Pakistan dispute, Imran Khan said – it will become more complicated after SC’s decision…

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the Kashmir issue will become ‘further complicated’ if the Supreme Court of India upheld the validity of the Indian government’s decision to abrogate most of the provisions of Article 370.

The Supreme Court on Monday unanimously upheld the central government’s August 2019 decision to abrogate most of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) in a post on ‘X’ said Khan in a message said the Indian top court’s decision was a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

Khan is lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail. It said, ‘Khan has made it clear that the controversial and illegal decision of the Indian top court will further complicate the Kashmir issue instead of helping to resolve the decades-old conflict.’

Khan pledged that his party would continue to provide full diplomatic, moral and political support to the Kashmiri people. Khan said that the Kashmir issue is the main cause of dispute between Pakistan and India.

He emphasized that when India tried to change the special status of Kashmir in 2019, the then government led by him had reacted strongly.

Khan said he wanted to establish good relations with India while keeping national interests first. He said that however, this was not possible after August 5, 2019 because ‘we did not want to compromise with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.’
