Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has created a new controversy by commenting on Sikhs in America.
During a speech in Washington DC, he raised questions on the situation of Sikhs in India. According to information, many Khalistani extremists were present in this program.
This statement has created a ruckus in India. BJP reminded him that it was Congress during whose rule 3000 Sikhs were killed in the country.
Now this statement has been supported by Khalistani terrorist and head of Sikh for Justice (SFJ) Gurpatwant Pannu, further fuelling the controversy.
According to a report, separatist leader Pannu issued a statement saying, “Sikhs in India are facing an existential threat. Rahul’s statement is not only bold but also based on the factual history of the conditions Sikhs have faced in India since 1947. It also confirms SFJ’s stand on the goal of a plebiscite to establish a Sikh homeland Khalistan.”
what did rahul say
Earlier, during his speech, Rahul Gandhi had said, “First of all you have to understand what this fight is about. The fight is not about politics. The fight is about whether as a Sikh he will be allowed to wear a turban in India or not, as a Sikh he will be allowed to wear a ‘kara’ in India or not. Will a Sikh be able to go to the Gurudwara? This is what the fight is about and not just for him but for all religions.”
Rahul is encouraging terrorists
Rahul is being heavily criticized in the country for this statement. Government sources have described it as another example of the Congress MP’s irrational behavior. A source said, “This happens when you start speaking without briefing. Speaking against the country outside encourages people like Pannu. No Sikh in India is unhappy and internal matters will be resolved internally.”
Union minister made serious allegations against Rahul
Earlier, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had also criticized Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. He said that his language matches the tone of Khalistani separatist Pannu who is wanted in India on charges of terrorism.
Hardeep Puri said, “Rahul’s language is very similar to that of fugitive Pannu who lives in New York. Is he meeting him?” Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson RP Singh has threatened to drag Rahul to court if he repeats such a statement, reminding him of the Sikh riots during the Congress rule in 1984.
