This incident took place at ‘College of Medicine and Sagar Dutta Hospital’ near Kolkata.

After the death of a patient, angry family members carried out the incident. It is noteworthy that the atmosphere is quite disturbed after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College.

Doctors said the attack on Sagar Dutta Hospital shows that the state government has completely failed to fulfill its promise of providing security to them.

A junior doctor said that we are giving some time to the state government. Want to hear their arguments regarding our security in the Supreme Court on Monday.

After that, from 5 pm onwards we will stop work in all hospitals across Bengal. The hospital where the patient’s relatives attacked is in North 24 Parganas district.

A female patient had serious lung disease. His family members brought him to the hospital and he died during treatment. The family members of the woman attacked the junior doctors and nurses, accusing them of negligence in treatment.

Some people also got injured in this. The police arrested the people involved in the incident. Doctors stopped working in Sagar Dutta Hospital from Friday itself.

After this a meeting of West Bengal Junior Doctors Front was held. It was decided that the doctors would file an appeal in the Supreme Court on Monday and wait for the hearing of the hospital case.

Aniket Mahata, a junior doctor, said that our lawyers will also tell the court that the government has failed to win the trust of junior doctors.

We will also see what the state government tells the court. If no positive response is received from there, we will stop work again from 5 pm on Monday.
