Kolkata. The Kolkata rape-murder case was heard by a bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra in the Supreme Court. The CJI said – A task force is being formed to improve the security of doctors, 9 doctors have been included in it, which will recommend measures for the safety, working conditions and betterment of medical professionals.
Five officials of the central government have also been included in the task force. The court has sought a status report from the CBI by August 22 and a report on the incident from the state government. The 9 doctors in the National Task Force include RK Sarian, Surgeon Vice Admiral, Dr. M Srinivas, Director AIIMS Delhi, Dr. Pratima Murthy, Bangalore, Dr. Govardhan Dutt Puri, Director AIIMS Jodhpur, Dr. Saumitra Rawat, Managing Member of Gangaram Hospital, Prof. Pallavi Sapre, Dean Grand Medical College Mumbai, Prof. Anita Saxena, Cardiology Head AIIMS Delhi, Dr. Padma Srivastava, Neurology Department AIIMS Delhi and Dr. Nageshwar Reddy, Managing Director Asian Institute of National Gastroenterology. Apart from these, 5 other members are Cabinet Secretary of Government of India, Home Secretary of Government of India, Secretary of Union Health Ministry, Chairman of National Medical Commission and Chairman of National Board of Examiners.
CISF was given the responsibility of security of RG Kar Hospital. The next hearing of the case will be on 22nd August. On the other hand, after the order of the Supreme Court, the doctors of Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital ended their strike. Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly will protest with his wife Dona on 21st August.
