The birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma, the god of architecture and crafts, will be celebrated this year on Monday, 16 September 2024.

However, in some places of the country, Vishwakarma Jayanti is celebrated twice a year. In this context, today, on 22 February 2024, some people are also celebrating Vishkarma Jayanti.

Every year the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma is celebrated on the day of Kanya Sankranti. On this occasion, Lord Vishwakarma and the instruments, machines and tools of factories are worshipped.

After duly worshiping Lord Vishwakarma, people distribute Prasad. It is believed that worshiping as per the rituals on Vishwakarma Jayanti brings progress in business and reduces obstacles in construction work.

On this special day, artisans, carpenters, craftsmen, machinery, blacksmiths, and workers celebrate Vishwakarma Jayanti with full enthusiasm.

Major temples associated with Lord Vishkarma:
1- Delhi Mahabharata period Lord Vishkarma Temple- The oldest temple of Lord Vishkarma is in Delhi. It is said that the architect of Devlok, Lord Vishwakarma, had built Indraprastha, the oldest city of the Mahabharata period. Pandavas had established a city named Indrapastha on Khandava forest. This city was the capital of Pandavas and is now known as Delhi which is the capital of India.

2- Lord Vishwakarma built the temple of Aurangabad, Bihar at night:
It is believed that this is the only Sun Temple in Aurangabad which was built by Lord Vishwakarma himself. It is said that the construction of this temple was completed in one night. The specialty of this temple is that it is a rising sun temple. The gates of all Sun temples open towards the east whereas the gate of this temple opens towards the west.

Measures for progress on Vishkarma Jayanti,
1- On the day of Vishwakarma Puja, offer green sweets to Lord Vishwakarma. It is believed that doing this leads to progress in business and chances of financial gain.
2- After worship on the day of Vishwakarma Jayanti, offer turmeric, coconut, flowers and kumkum to Lord Vishwakarma. There is a religious belief that doing this opens the way for progress in business.
3- Increase in wealth and business: On Vishwakarma Jayanti, you can also chant the mantras ‘Om Kumayi Namah’ and ‘Om Anantam Namah’ for increase in wealth and happiness.
