A plane carrying 62 people crashed into a residential area of a city in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo on Friday.
In a statement issued by the airline, it has been said that all the passengers died on the spot. This plane had taken off for Sao Paulo’s international airport Guarulhos.
According to the statement, there were 58 passengers and four crew members on board the plane. However, it is not known how the plane met with the accident.
Some visuals of the plane crash have surfaced on social media. The horror of the accident is clearly visible in it. It can be seen in the video that the plane suddenly starts spinning in the air.
After this, it goes completely out of control and starts falling rapidly towards the ground. This causes chaos in the area where the plane has fallen.
The visuals that follow show the plane falling and then smoke rising rapidly. Another video shows flames. Passengers’ luggage is scattered here and there and some people’s bodies are seen burning.
According to the information, the plane that was the victim of the accident was an ATR 72-500, a twin-engine turboprop plane. The plane fell from a height of 17000 feet in just one minute.
It is said that about one and a half minutes before the accident, the plane started losing control. At 1:21 pm local time, it was at an altitude of 17 thousand feet.
In the next ten seconds it came down by 250 feet. After this, in the next eight seconds it again went up by 400 feet. After eight seconds the plane again came down by 2000 feet. After this, in the next one minute the plane came down by 17000 feet and the game was over.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed condolences at an event in southern Brazil. He said that it appeared that all the passengers and crew members on board the plane were dead.
The fire department, military police and civil defense authority sent teams to the accident site in Vinhedo.
Brazilian television network GloboNews showed footage of a large area on fire and smoke billowing from the wreckage of a plane over a residential area packed with homes.
